During the second joint degree ceremony of the two Master’s programs come.tum and CSE, on Oct 23, the first honours graduates who finished the BGCE elite program in Munich were celebrated.
The BGCE took part in the first member conference of the Elitenetzwerk Bayern.

The students of the “Optimization and Form Finding” course also proved their practical skills during the seminar by designing, simulating, and putting up a party tent for the final session.
The joint summer trip of BGCE’s two Munich programs, CSE and come.tum, has become a nice tradition. After trips to Herrenchiemsee (2003), Kaltenberg (2004), and Königsee (2005), this year’s summer excursion led us to Schloss Linderhof and Ettal.
The thorough inspection of Schloss Linderhof, including park and grotto, was followed by a visit of the cheese manufactoring centre and the monastery in Ettal (pictures of the event).
The 2006 class of honours students will start the BGCE program with this opening weekend at the IHK Tagungszentrum in Westerham. Friday, 24th, will see the introduction of students and lecturers, and the presentation of activities in the following year.
Prof. Dr. Reinhard, head of Siemens Medical Solutions in Erlangen, will be our guest of honour for Friday evening.
On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a block seminar for the honours students.
The BGCE hosted the first joint degree ceremony of the two Munich program, come.tum and CSE. Invited speaker of the evening was Dr. Jürgen Kohler from DaimlerChrysler, giving a lecture on the importance simulation in automotive engineering (pictures of the ceremony).
Disregarding the Oktoberfest, 14 students of BGCE spend the final two weeks of September in Sarntal/Italy to join the Ferienakademie. This year, two courses,
where dedicated to topics in computational engineering, and where thus attended by the CSE students.
The third session of our soft skills seminar “Leading yourself and others” included a visit to “Hirschvogel Komponenten GmbH” in Schongau. Albert Kees, personnel manager at Hirschvogel, introduced his company to us, and led a lifely discussion about question of leadership in a medium-sized company.
On the first weekend of march 2005, the first group of honours students met at the IHK Tagungszentrum in Westerham. After the usual welcome and introduction ceremonies, details of the honours program’s curriculum were presented and discussed.
On Saturday evening, Prof. Dr. Klaus Wucherer, executive vice president of Siemens AG, was special guest for a fireside chat on the topic “High End Computing – the Future of Engineering”.
As part of an afternoon ceremony at Munich’s “Pinakotek der Moderne”, Ministerpräsident Edmund Stoiber and Wissenschaftsminister Thomas Goppel gave the official start of the Elitenetzwerk Bayern.
